If someone mentions the word "Scotland" a lot of people memorise a lot of films which took place in Scotland or are in another way related to it.
One of the most famous one is without a doubt "Highlander" with Christopher Lambert and Scottish actor Sean Connery and also Eilean Donan (on the picture) got even more famous as it already was.
Other films like "Braveheart" with Mel Gibson playing "William Wallace", "Rob Roy" with Liam Neeson and - not to forget to mention - "Harry Potter". Regarding Harry Potter people will remember the Glenfinnan Viaduct, this railroad bridge with the arches and the steam train. Today you can also make a trip with the Jacobite Steam Train (which looks a lot like the one out of the film) which leads over this bridge way up to Mallaig. This route has been classed as the most wonderful railway route of the world!
There are also a lot of castles to be seen as well as other historical places and beautiful nature reserves to experience an unforgettable holiday.
